VAST is a unique club Toastmasters club in that it simply caters to those committed to developing their public-speaking skills. VAST is different from a typical Toastmasters club in that there are no formal speech timers, no 'ah' and 'um' counters, no 'word of the day'. Rather, VAST focuses exclusively on speeches and evaluations.
VAST welcomes all levels of experienced speakers. You don't need a lot of experience, and you don’t have to be a great speaker. However, if you’re brand new to speaking and/or are at the stage-fright level (where many of us have been), you might want to first join a regular Toastmasters Club, and then consider us later.
We encourage prospective members to visit one or more of our meetings to check us out. We’re a congenial group and are all working toward becoming better speakers. We help each other and have fun along the way. We’re all hams and love a large audience!
If you’d like to visit, plan to arrive about 10-15 minutes early so you have a chance to chat briefly with our members. There is no need to pre-register, but if you’d like to let us know you’re coming, please email Bennie Bough at
.
There is no cost to attend any of our meetings, either for guests or members.
Should you decide to join, you’ll be asked to fill out a membership application. Membership is $33 every 6 months which includes $27 for Toastmasters International dues and $6 for club dues. There is a one-time fee of $20 for your start-up kit which includes your basic manuals.
